“The story of a grandfather who is suddenly left to care for his beloved granddaughter. When the little girl’s paternal grandmother seeks custody, a legal battle ensues that forces the families to confront their true feelings on race, forgiveness and understanding.”
When you think of comic book characters, does Oprah come to mind?
She better.
Variety was one of the first media outlets to break the news Tuesday of the cast for “Suicide Squad.” One thing they did also report was a list of candidates to play Amanda Waller, the character who oversees the team like Nick Fury does for the Avengers. Among the candidates are Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and Oprah Winfrey. Sources tell Variety Warner Bros. is leaning toward Oprah as their candidate.
“Suicide Squad,” a movie based on the DC comic book about super villains who are given a chance at redemption by the government, has an Aug. 5, 2016 release date.
There will be a sequel to the 2011 film “Source Code.” But will Jake Gyllenhaal be involved?
Variety broke the news that the sequel is ramping up development, with screenwriter Ben Ripley back to pen the latest installment. However, Gyllenhaal – who played a character who could be sent back in time to relive the last eight minutes of another person’s life within an alternative timeline – may not return. Neither he nor director Duncan Jones have been attached to the sequel.
“Source Code” was a modest hit, earning $54 million domestically and $147 million worldwide. The film cost $30 million to make for Summit.
Well, there’s always hope his next film will be a good one. Apple.com has the trailer for “Vice,” a film described like this, per IMDB.com:

The 24th James Bond film will get the royal treatment early Thursday.
The official 007 website will stream live the announcement of the title and cast online from the 007 Stage at Pinewood Studios in London. Principal photography of the film begins Monday, according to Variety.com.
The announcement will come at 11 a.m. GMT (that’s 6 a.m. on the east coast of the U.S.). Expected at the announcement are Daniel Craig (James Bond), Ralph Fiennes (M), Naomie Harris (Eve Montgomery), Rory Kenner (Bill Tanner) and Ben Whishaw (Q).
Various press reports have Christoph Waltz as the villain. Britain’s Mirror newspaper is saying the villain will be Andrew Scott of the BBC television show “Sherlock.”
Guess you’ll just have to tune in and find out what happens. We’ll obviously have the results, too, if you don’t want to get up that early in the morning.
As a side note, How cool would it be one day if Stephen Hawking played a Bond villain? I think I’d pay to see that. He’d wear Bond down with his intelligence alone.
