Texas theater plans to show ‘Team America: World Police’ in place of ‘The Interview’

Everything’s bigger in Texas and they are much bolder folk than the rest of us.

That’s one reason why a Dallas movie theater has decided instead of showing “The Interview,” it will now show “Team America: World Police.” It’s the 2004 puppet spoof from the creators of “South Park.”

What makes the move so interesting is “Team America” openly mocks then North Korean dictator Kim Jong II, the father of current dictator Kim Jong Un. The film was created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

The Alamo Drafthouse movie theater in Dallas will be showing the film on Dec. 27 at 7 p.m. The Hollywood Reporter reports American flags and other patriotic items will be given out by theater employees.

James Wallace, creative manager and programer for the location, told The Hollywood Reporter it is currently the only location showing the film. “We’re just trying to make the best of an unfortunate situation,” Wallace told the publication.
